Michael Fortune and Carl Faulds, both of business recovery firm Portland Business & Financial Solutions, have been appointed administrators of Gosport’s award winning independent brewery Oakleaf Brewery.
Founded in March 2000 the brewery has been producing ales to its own recipes for 16 years. Current production centres around six regular ales, including the multi award winning Hole Hearted which has won Hampshire Beer of the Year five times. The product line is supplement by seasonal specials released at various times through the year. Customers were able to sample these ales at many pubs throughout Southern England.
Latterly, two pubs, The Florist and The Brewpot both situated in Portsmouth, were taken on under the Oakleaf brand to showcase the brewery’s ales.
Immediately following their appointment the administrators continued to trade the brewery with the assistance and support from the directors and management. Steps have been taken to market the brewery for sale nationally as a going concern with the assistance of specialist agents. Significant interest in the brewery has already been received within the first week of the administration and this is expected to develop over the coming days.
Administrator Carl Faulds commented ‘As administrators we expect to be able to sell the business as a going concern preserving the heritage. As a result there is a good opportunity for investors or other brewers to acquire an established business in a thriving and fashionable industry’.
